Dilator Tubes
Novatech Dilator Tubes are made of stainless steel and are intented to be introduced through a rigid bronchoscope in order to mechanically dilate tracheo-bronchial stenoses.
Due to the material used and their wall thickness, Novatech Dilator Tubes are very stable with a large inner lumen.
Due to the special design of the Dilator Tubes, a stenosis can be efficiently dilated while at the same time the risk of trauma is minimized.
In order to facilitate passage through closed stenoses the distal ends of the tubes are beveled by 45°.
The proximal ends are thicker, can be safely grasped and cannot accidentally be introduced too far through the bronchoscope.
Novatech Dilator Tubes are to be used together with a bronchoscope or tracheoscope, through which they are introduced into the patient.
In order to pass the stenosis, the tube is introduced with rotating movements along the longitudinal axis into the stenosis lumen. Dilation is done by using tubes with increasing diameter, with a dilation of 2 to 3 mm per tube.
Example:
In order to dilate a stenosis with a residual lumen of 6 mm, initially a tube of 8 mm outer diameter (REF 02BRO08470) is to be used. If dilation with this tube is successful, another dilation with a tube of 10 mm outer diameter can be approached, and so on. Due to the trauma risk, it is not recommended to attempt initial dilation with a 10 mm tube.
